Firearm Proficiency

Step 1 to owning a firearm

Proficiency is step number one

Let us guide you through the unit standards required to start the firearm licensing process. Completing your proficiency entails collecting your training manuals from our shop. This can either be done purchasing your books in store, or by having your books sent to your doorstep via courier.

Once you have received your books, you will need to complete the user-friendly open book test in the comfort of your own home. Each unit standard has an open book test which needs to be completed in black pen. The books are designed in a way that draws your attention to the relevant sections in the book, without having to aimlessly page back and forth, searching for answers.
Once you have completed your open-book tests, you will need to book your date for the closed-book test and practical shoot. This is done by contacting us via phone, WhatsApp or email. We will then send you a list of all the available class dates. You can select the date that works best for you.

On the day of the class, we meet at our offices at 10am. We start the day with a friendly introduction and then ease into the workshop, transitioning into the closed-book test. Once we have concluded the closed book test, we have a short break. Then it’s off to the shooting range for some fun! We are in the process of constructing our own on-site indoor shooting range. While the construction process is underway, we make use of two nearby shooting ranges.

Once we arrive at the range, we ease into a relaxed firearm training session. You will be taught the ins and outs of practical firearm safety and how to effectively handle and use the firearm of your choice. Our instructors are patient and have a deep understanding of people and the different ways in which they learn. Our classes are small, ensuring that you received the personal attention that you deserve. Another big benefit of holding such small classes is that we conclude the entire session on a single day, meaning that you don’t have to put in multiple days of leave or leave the kids and pets at home for too long.

We encourage questions and teach more than what is required. It is important for us that you know everything and leaves nothing to chance.

We offer a variety of the most popular unit standards necessary for you to obtain and license your desired firearms. Please note that the “Knowledge of the firearms control Act” is required for the other unit standards to be valid.
